UV planar laser induced fluorescence imaging of hot carbon dioxide in a high-pressure flame
نویسندگان
چکیده
UV planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) images of hot carbon dioxide (CO2) are obtained in a laminar flame (CH4/air) at high pressure (20 bar) with excitation wavelengths at 239.34 nm and 242.14 nm. Excitation wavelengths are chosen to minimize the contribution of nitric oxide and molecular oxygen LIF signals. Spectrally resolved single point measurements are used for correction of the remaining oxygen LIF interference. The continuum LIF signal from electronically excited CO2 is detected in a broad (280–400 nm) emission region. The UV PLIF of hot CO2 has the potential for application to a wide variety of diagnostic needs in high-pressure flames, combustors, and engines. PACS 42.62.Fi; 42.30.Va; 07.25+k; 39.30+w

Carbon dioxide UV laser-induced fluorescence in high-pressure flames
Laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) of carbon dioxide is investigated with excitation between 215 and 255 nm with spectrally resolved detection in 5–40 bar premixed CH4/O2/Ar and CH4/air flat-flames at fuel/air ratios between 0.8 and 1.9. The LIF signal consists of a broad (200–450 nm) continuum with a faint superimposed structure, and this signal is absent in similar H2/O2/Ar flames. There is str...
متن کاملQuantitative NO-LIF imaging in high-pressure flames
Planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) images of NO concentration are reported in premixed laminar flames from 1–60 bar exciting the A− X(0, 0) band. The influence of O2 interference and gas composition, the variation with local temperature, and the effect of laser and signal attenuation by UV light absorption are investigated. Despite choosing a NO excitation and detection scheme with minimu...
متن کاملImaging of Co and Co2 Using Infrared Planar Laser-induced Fluorescence
Infrared (IR) planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) techniques for imaging of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide are reported. These diagnostics employ a tunable IR source to excite overtone and combination band transitions of CO and CO2, respectively, and one or two InSb focal plane arrays to collect fluorescence emitted via fundamental transitions from excited vibrational states. A brief o...

We report the use of a tunable ArF laser at 193.26 nm to record simultaneous single-laser-shot, planar images of molecular hydrogen and hot oxygen in a turbulent H(2)-air diffusion flame. Excitation spectra of fuel and oxidantrich flame zones confirm a partial overlap of the two-photon H(2) (6,0) Q(1) E, F ? X and single-photon O(2) (10,2) R(17) B ? X (Schumann-Runge) absorption bands. UV Rayle...
متن کاملFluorescence quantum yield of carbon dioxide for quantitative UV laser-induced fluorescence in high-pressure flames
The fluorescence quantum yield for ultraviolet laser-induced fluorescence of CO2 is determined for selected excitation wavelengths in the range 215–250 nm. Wavelength-resolved laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra of CO2, NO, and O2 are measured in the burned gases of a laminar CH4/air flame (φ = 0.9 and 1.1) at 20 bar with additional NO seeded into the flow. The fluorescence spectra are fit...
